Sources and methodology

Three kinds of figure appear on this site, and each is labelled: figures reproduced from a primary document, figures derived from one by stated arithmetic, and indicative figures where an award is confirmed but the final document is still pending.

The labelling rules

Verified (green chip): the number appears in the linked source document exactly as shown. All figures were last checked on 7 September 2026.

Derived: calculated from a verified figure with the method stated inline. Example: NHS hourly rates divide annual pay by 1,955.36 hours, the NHS standard divisor, which reproduces NHS Employers' own published hourly figures.

Indicative (amber chip): a pay award is confirmed government policy but its final document is unpublished. The teacher 2026/27 tables are the verified 2025/26 point plus the confirmed 3.5%, rounded up to the nearest pound; they will be replaced by the STPCD 2026 tables when those publish in mid-October. The police 3.5% award is acknowledged in prose but the tables stay on the September 2025 determination until the Home Office publishes the new one. Armed forces rank ranges are labelled indicative because pay at a rank spans trade supplements and increments; the award percentage itself is verified.

Update policy

Pay circulars cluster around February to July announcements and April and September effective dates. The site is re-verified when any covered award is announced, when a pending determination or STPCD publishes, and at both effective dates. Corrections: corrections@ukpayscales.co.uk.
